Tech Audio updates Shrapnel to v1.1 and adds a free 100-preset factory pack

Tech Audio has updated Shrapnel, its physics-driven sampler and MIDI generator, to version 1.1. The update adds factory preset support and is accompanied by the Shrapnel Factory Pack, a free download for licensed users containing 100 presets in 10 categories.

All presets are built from fully cleared recordings, so sounds made with them can be used in commercial projects. The pack includes contributions from sound designers Juan Uribe, David Dumais, Ariel Gross, Anthony Turi, and George Bafaloukos.

Changes in this update

  • Factory presets: the preset menu now has a Factory section organized into folders, with each preset’s author and description shown on hover.
  • Preset info panel: view and edit the current preset’s title, author, and description.
  • Startup preset: choose which preset new instances load.
  • Pitch snapping key: set a key for MIDI output, or a semitone offset for sampler, granular, and audio-input slots.
  • Slower spawning: Spawn Rate now goes down to 0.1 Hz, with a log-scaled slider for setting slow rates.
  • Longer samples: sample group files can now be up to 120 seconds long (previously 30).
  • Smoother voice stealing: stolen voices fade out over the collider’s Fade time instead of cutting off.

Pricing & Availability

Shrapnel is available for Windows and macOS in VST3, AU, AAX, and CLAP formats, plus a standalone application, priced at $49 USD. Version 1.1 was released on October 29, 2026, and is a free update for existing users. A demo is available.
