Loopmasters has released Loopcloud 8, an update to its sample subscription and production platform that introduces intelligent sample discovery tools, expanded MIDI functionality, new effects and a companion iOS app. The update also adds improvements to Loopcloud’s DRUM, PLAY and Flip instruments, along with new subscriber benefits.
The update focuses on integrating producers’ own sample libraries with Loopcloud’s catalog of more than four million samples, synth presets and MIDI files.
Intelligent Sample Discovery
Loopcloud 8 introduces two new tools, Inspire and Listen, designed to assist with different stages of music production.
Inspire generates starting points for tracks based on a selected genre, assembling arrangements of samples, chords and drums that producers can develop further.
Listen analyzes existing audio and uses Loopcloud Intelligence, the platform’s harmonic-matching algorithm, to identify compatible samples. The updated system detects chord changes and sample positioning, allowing producers to search for basslines, leads and one-shots that fit an existing chord progression or melody.
Listen works with both Loopcloud’s catalog and user-imported samples, with additional filtering by genre and instrument.
The new Advanced Search feature supports natural-language queries, allowing users to search using descriptive phrases such as “warm analog bassline” or “vinyl-crackle boom bap drums.” Results can be refined by instrument, genre, mood and artist reference.
New Effects and Production Tools
Loopcloud 8 adds five effects to its sample editor:

Gator: Rhythmic gating with step sequencing, swing, tied steps and randomization.

Looper: BPM-synced looping with adjustable speed, playback direction and gate controls.

Utility: Gain, pan, stereo width and mono-bass processing.

Chorus: Modulation effect for stereo width and depth.

Bitcrush: Digital distortion and bit-depth reduction.
New automation curves provide additional control over effect parameters over time. The editor can process samples from users’ own libraries as well as Loopcloud content, with editing available before purchasing samples.
Loopcloud’s Flip sound-remixing tool receives 1,000 additional presets, bringing its library to 2,000. Presets are organized by instrument and sound type but can also be applied to other material.
MIDI, DRUM and PLAY Updates
The MIDI library now contains more than 125,000 files, including approximately 8,000 drum patterns.
A revised MIDI preview engine automatically selects an appropriate instrument for the file being auditioned. Drum MIDI loads a drum kit, while melodic parts can load corresponding instruments such as piano. Six new genre-specific drum kits and additional melodic instruments are also included.
Loopcloud’s PLAY sample-based instrument gains five effects and direct sample importing, allowing users to load their own recordings and audio files.
The DRUM instrument’s pattern generator now considers instrument and genre tags when suggesting patterns, rather than selecting patterns randomly.
Loopcloud for iOS
Loopcloud 8 introduces the platform’s first iOS app, providing access to Inspire, sample browsing, audio previews and collection management.
Users can browse the full Loopcloud catalog, generate ideas and save collections that synchronize with their desktop Loopcloud account.
An Android version is in development.
Additional Subscriber Benefits
Loopcloud subscriptions now include access to Producertech’s course library, containing more than 400 hours of video tutorials covering music production, synthesis, mixing and Loopcloud workflows.
Loopmasters has also introduced a monthly plugin promotion in partnership with developers including Baby Audio, Tone Empire, Rhodes and Beatsurfing. Subscribers can receive up to 12 free plugins per year, with a new plugin offered each month. Annual subscribers can claim each month’s plugin at any point during their subscription year.
