Sample Logic has introduced Quadra, a multi-effect plugin that uses an XY pad to morph between four independent effect chains in real time. Each corner can host up to four effects selected from 22 processors, with manual and automated movement between the chains.
Quadra’s XY Morph Pad controls the balance between all four chains simultaneously. Moving the cursor changes the contribution of each chain, allowing users to transition between different combinations of reverb, delay, distortion, granular processing and other effects.
Motion Engine
Quadra includes four modes for controlling movement across the XY pad:
-
Manual: Direct control of the XY position.
-
Auto: Automated movement along a looping path.
-
Draw: Record custom movement paths directly on the pad.
-
Steps: A 16-step sequencer synchronized to the host tempo, with swing control.
Motion settings can be saved as presets, while Morph X and Morph Y are available for DAW automation.
Effects and Sound Design
The plugin provides 22 effects, including conventional reverb and delay processors alongside granular, spectral and modulation-based effects. Available processing includes shimmer reverb, tape and dub delays, spectral freeze, modal resonators, wavefolding, filters, distortion, lo-fi processing and rhythmic gating.
A convolution processor includes 81 impulse responses organized into Ambient, Rhythmic, Rooms, SFX and Short categories. Users can browse and view the impulses, adjust their starting points and reverse playback.
Quadra also features a layered randomization system that generates combinations of effects and settings. According to Sample Logic, the randomization system uses combinations tested to avoid unwanted level changes and clicks.
Presets and Workflow
Quadra includes more than 630 factory presets, comprising 150 Master Presets across 12 styles, 216 Chain Presets, 211 Effect Presets and 54 Motion Presets.
The Master Presets cover categories such as Ambient Spaces, Shimmer and Air, Broken Machines, and Grit and Drive. Individual Chain, Effect and Motion Presets can be used as starting points for custom configurations.
Additional features include A/B comparison, full Undo and Redo functionality, a resizable interface and VoiceOver accessibility support on macOS.
