Song Cage has released Song Cage, a songwriting plugin that puts lyrics, chords, melody and song structure on one timeline inside the DAW. The plugin streams chord and melody MIDI to your own instruments in sync with host transport.
There is no AI generation in it. Chord suggestions come from functional harmony and are labelled by role: diatonic, borrowed from a parallel mode, secondary dominant, tritone substitution. Each carries a plain-language explanation of why it fits the surrounding chords and the melody underneath. A modulation panel provides pivot chords, cadential routes and routes back to the original key.
Lyric tools are built in, including rhymes grouped by syllable count, slant rhymes, synonyms and semantic association. These run on-device with no lookup service behind them.
Chord and melody parts export as MIDI, and songs export as a chord-sheet PDF with chord diagrams.
The same song is also available in the Song Cage desktop app for macOS and Windows, in the browser, and in a free iOS and Android capture app that works fully offline.

Song Cage is available now for macOS 11.0 or later (universal binary, Apple silicon and Intel) and Windows 10 or later, in AU and VST3 formats plus a standalone application.
