23audio has released two products for the spoken voice: V-23 Voice Processor, a channel strip plugin for narration, audiobooks, podcasts and voiceover, and Audiobook Checker, a free app and plugin that checks audiobook chapters against ACX’s audio requirements. Both are available for macOS and Windows in VST3, AU and AAX formats.
V-23 Voice Processor
V-23 Voice Processor puts the whole chain a spoken voice usually goes through in one window: input colour (Clean, Tube or Solid), de-esser, expander, compressor, 3-band EQ with high-pass, limiter and output. The five middle stages can be dragged into any order.
More Features:
- Clarify turns down the boxy, muddy build-up a small room or close mic leaves on a voice, and only while it’s there.
- Loudness targets for podcast, streaming, broadcast and audiobook delivery, with peaks held under the ceiling and an ACX check.
- 36 samples of latency (under a millisecond at 48 kHz), so you can record and monitor through it.
- Slim view sits under the track while recording; Stage View shows what each stage is doing to the voice.
Audiobook Checker
Audiobook Checker measures each chapter the way ACX does (RMS, peak and noise floor), checks room tone at the start and end, flags gaps gated to dead silence, and reads the MP3 file settings.
Drop in one chapter or a whole book, and it lists exactly what to change.
As a plugin it measures a chapter as it is bounced. It only measures and never changes the sound.
Pricing & Availability
V-23 costs £69.99, with a launch price of £49.99 until 31 October 2026.
Audiobook Checker is free, with no licence or sign-up.
