ZAK Sound has released RocketVerb, an algorithmic reverb “shaped by public space audio, planetary recordings and astronomical data sonifications”.
During development, ZAK Sound analyzed source material for characteristics including spectral movement, density, damping and texture. Those characteristics were translated into 38 internal source profiles that guide RocketVerb’s algorithmic engine. The original source recordings are not replayed as samples or fixed impulse responses; a new reverb tail is synthesized in real time for each incoming sound.
RocketVerb began with a simple question: what happens if the behavior of space audio becomes part of the reverb itself? The original recordings are not played back. Their spectral movement, density and texture are translated into profiles that shape a new algorithmic tail in real time.
Ben D’urso, founder of ZAK Sound.
An interactive Galaxy cursor provides macro control over the spatial behavior of the reverb. Six additional effect blocks – Radiation, Orbit, Filter, Granular Cloud, Comet Trails and Dust – extend the engine with modulation, delays, filtering, granular processing and texture.
RocketVerb includes:
- 38 internal source profiles.
- 144 factory presets across eight categories.
- Five primary reverb controls: Pre, Density, Length, Size and Shape.
- An interactive Galaxy macro for real-time movement.
- Six creative effect blocks.
- Real-time algorithmic reverb synthesis.
