UB DSP has released Filter Blender, a filter effect that runs three filters in parallel on the corners of a triangle. Each corner holds any of 12 modelled circuits with its own cutoff, resonance and drive, and one dot sets their weights by its distance to each corner.
Moving the dot changes the slope, the resonance and the saturation together. Parked on a corner, Filter Blender is a single filter, and a corner at zero weight is not computed. Blending circuits with different slopes on the same cutoff gives a slope chosen with the dot, and a polarity flip per corner turns the blend hollow.
Around the triangle, a comb filter, a phaser (2 to 24 allpass stages), a four-formant vowel filter and a ring modulator sit before or after the filters, in any order. A motion recorder loops a path drawn on the triangle in sync with the host, and nine modulator types, up to 16 at once with intermodulation, can move the blend on their own.
The 12 filter models
- MooLadder: 4-pole transistor ladder.
- Acid303: 3-pole diode ladder, the resonance bites harder as the signal gets louder.
- OberSilk: 2-pole state-variable.
- ScreamKor20: Sallen-Key with clipping diodes after the filter.
- BritesteinP: multimode with positive feedback and a limiter in the loop.
- LushJup8: 4-pole OTA cascade.
- CrunchWasp: CMOS state-variable with an S-curve and quantisation.
- CoastBand291: two band-passes in series, West Coast style, ringing on one note in BP.
- WildDiode3: 3-pole diode bridge.
- FunkyFollowIII: state-variable with its own envelope follower.
- CryWah: swept band-pass.
- MorphPoleX: pole-mixing multimode, the only model with a Bell.
Features
- Zero-delay feedback on every model; the three 4-pole ladders saturate inside their loop, solved per sample with Newton-Raphson.
- Eight models self-oscillate with DRIVE up.
- Half-band oversampling at 1x, 2x or 4x, plus an automatic 2x when an audible corner sits above 8 kHz.
- 47 samples of latency at every setting, reported to the host.
- LOWS crossover (20 to 500 Hz), phase-aligned MIX, LOUDNESS match, limiter (BRK, SFT), L/R, M/S and MONO.
- Envelope generator triggered by audio or MIDI; MIDI modulator with keytrack, velocity, aftertouch and mod wheel; per-note pressure in CLAP hosts.
- 30 factory presets in 8 categories, visible in the host’s browser through CLAP preset discovery.
Pricing & Availability
Filter Blender is available now for macOS (AU, VST3, CLAP and AAX, Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows (VST3, CLAP and AAX) and Linux (VST3 and CLAP). The launch price is $39 until November 15, 2026, 23:59 CET, then $68. Owners of Grit Blender or Vowel Blender get their owner’s discount on top.
The licence is an offline keyfile for up to three computers, with no iLok and no subscription. The free trial has no time limit and is fully working, with 2 seconds of silence every 40 seconds.
