TonalBrain has updated TonalBrain Mix, its AI mixing plugin for macOS and Windows, to version 0.8.11. The update adds tape saturation and a harmonic exciter, introduces an intensity control for the AI’s decisions, and brings AAX support for Pro Tools.
TonalBrain Mix analyses your whole multitrack session at once rather than one track at a time. It hears how the kick and bass collide, where the vocal gets buried, and what the mix needs as a whole.
The AI now builds a full channel strip for each track. It decides which processors that track needs, in what order, and at what settings, choosing from EQ, compression, sidechain compression, optical compression, de-essing, stereo width, tape saturation and a harmonic exciter. Tracks that need nothing get nothing.
Every track’s EQ and compressor now has an intensity control. Drag it and the AI’s decision scales from nothing to double, with the balance between the individual moves kept intact. The AI’s original setting stays drawn behind yours, so one move puts you back.
Other changes in this version include:
- A new EQ display with per-band controls.
- A full-width gain reduction timeline on the compressor.
- New de-esser and exciter displays.
- Separate capture of verse and chorus sections.
- One-click A/B of a saved AI mix across the whole session.
TonalBrain Mix runs on macOS 10.15 and later, including Apple Silicon, and on Windows 10 and 11, in VST3, AU and AAX formats. It works in Ableton Live, Logic Pro, Pro Tools, FL Studio, Cubase, Reaper and Studio One. Audio is analysed locally and never leaves the user’s computer.
