SSA Plugins has updated their first- to tenth-order Ambisonic dynamic range plugins, aXCompressor and aXGate, to version 1.4.0.
This new version adds a spatial side-chain that can be used to drive the gain reduction:
- Point a virtual microphone anywhere in the sound field so sources from that direction drive the gain reduction.
- Vary the width of the virtual microphone from omnidirectional to higher order cardioid directivities.
- Select the sources you want, reducing the impact of background sounds.
The virtual microphone module shows you where the sounds are coming from in real-time, allowing for more intuitive orientation of the virtual microphone.
