SonikStation has released SonikSearch v3, a major update to its sample library manager. SonikSearch runs as a standalone app and as a VST3, AU, and AAX plugin inside your DAW, and everything it does runs locally on your machine.
The headline addition is a full kit-based sampler. Once you find a sound, you can drag it onto a pad and play it from a MIDI controller, the on-screen keyboard, or your DAW.
Sampler
- Kits from 16 to 128 pads, each pad either a one-key drum or a chromatic, key-tracked instrument.
- Sample maps with multiple layers per pad across key and velocity zones, plus round-robins.
- Freeform amp, filter, and pitch envelopes drawn directly on the waveform, with a per-pad resonant filter, two LFOs, glide, unison, and humanize.
- Chop and slice by transients, beat grid, or equal parts, then drag a MIDI clip of the timing into your DAW.
- 8 FX slots and 17 effects per pad, including a graphical 4-band EQ and convolution reverb with your own impulse responses.
- Real-time stretch with five algorithms, Sync to beat-match loops, Tune toward your session key, and Freeze.
- Route pads to separate plugin outputs so each drum lands on its own DAW mixer channel.
- Save and load kits, choke groups, per-pad MIDI channels, macro knobs with host automation, and SFZ import.
Stem Separation
Separate any sample into drums, bass, vocals, and other using a neural network that runs locally. Stems are imported, analyzed, tagged, and linked to the original automatically. Now available in plugin mode as well as standalone.
Analysis
BPM and musical key are now detected by neural models, with the previous analyzers as automatic fallback. Automatic tagging covers 400+ tags across 12 facets, combining what a sample sounds like with how it is named and organized.
Platform and Formats
- AAX support for Pro Tools on both macOS and Windows.
- All Windows artifacts are now code signed.
- Native Windows ARM build (AAX is not available on ARM).
Also in v3
Full-library filter scans are much faster and now show exact result counts, duplicate detection has been rebuilt to catch re-encoded copies, and a Library / Both / Sampler audio toggle lets you browse your library over a looping kit to audition sounds in context. This release also includes a long list of fixes to preview playback, import, collections, and transpose.
Pricing & Availability
SonikSearch is $89 with a 14-day free trial. If you tried an earlier version and want another look, email support@sonikstation.com for a fresh v3 trial.
