Polyend Announces Drums – Analog and Digital Drum Machine Debuted at Superbooth 2026

Polyend has announced Drums, an analog and digital drum machine built around a single-piece aluminum chassis with an 8-track step sequencer. The instrument was unveiled at Superbooth 2026 in Berlin, where we had a chance to go hands-on with a pre-production unit.

The hardware makes an immediate impression. The body is solid and precise, with custom metal knobs throughout — the kind of build quality where every control feels considered. It’s available in Black or Silver.

Sound Engine

The production model will include four analog voices, each built on SSI chips with dual analog VCOs, a dedicated noise source, and an additional digital oscillator for hybrid layering or FM modulation. Each voice runs through a multimode analog filter and VCA. The pre-production unit shown at Superbooth did not yet have the analog circuitry populated. Worth noting for anyone who saw footage from the show floor. The final retail unit will include both analog drum sources and synth-oriented voices.

Beyond the analog section, Drums offers over 50 drum and synthesis algorithms spanning analog, digital, and sample-based methods. Sub-mode variations within each instrument push the total sound count considerably higher. Eight independent LFOs are available for modulation.

Sequencer

Each of the 8 tracks supports up to 64 steps, with per-track probability, micro-timing, pattern chaining, and generative tools. In use, the workflow was direct. Pattern entry was quick and the layout kept everything accessible without menu-diving. Parameter locking is well-implemented: programming melodic sequences across a track or setting up ratcheting effects was straightforward and genuinely fun to experiment with.

Effects and Performance

Three dedicated effects groups cover send effects for shared bus processing, insert effects applied per track and crucially, sequenceable as part of the pattern — and a master chain for the final mix. An X0Y fader handles real-time kit morphing, fill triggering, and pattern or kit switching without interrupting playback.

Technical Specifications

Internal audio processing runs at 32-bit floating point / 96kHz, with 24-bit/96kHz DAC and ADC conversion. The device runs a dual-core main CPU with auxiliary processors handling peripherals and analog control.

Ins & Outs:

  • 2 × 1/4″ stereo audio outputs.
  • 8 × 1/4″ individual track outputs.
  • 2 × 1/4″ audio inputs.
  • 1 × 1/4″ stereo headphone output.
  • 1/8″ MIDI In, Out, and Thru.
  • USB-C.

Dimensions: 17.56 × 11.50 × 1.69 inches (44.6 × 29.2 × 4.3 cm).
