Artifacts 01: Undervoltage Drift by Plughugger for Pigments 7 is the first release in a new series exploring unusual sonic discoveries.

The collection began with an unexpected observation while sampling waveforms from a Behringer JT Mini synthesizer. Accidentally powered below its intended operating voltage, the instrument entered an unstable operating state where the oscillators drifted unpredictably, unison sounds became thicker and more animated, the noise floor increased, and the synthesizer developed a unique character unlike its normal sound.
The waveforms from this rare electronic anomaly were captured in 96kHz, carefully looped and imported into Pigments 7, where they became the foundation for an exploration of instability, movement and controlled chaos. Making extensive use of Pigments’ latest features—including the Rage Filters and Corroder effect, the original recordings were transformed into evolving textures, cinematic atmospheres and expressive electronic sounds that extend far beyond their source.
In addition to the sampled waveforms, the elevated noise floor produced by the underpowered synthesizer was isolated and reshaped into entirely new textures that never existed in the original instrument. Alongside the finished presets, the collection also includes clean INIT templates for creating your own sounds from the unique waveform library.
