Parish Audio has released Aethon, a granular transformation effect for Windows and macOS designed to turn incoming audio into evolving textures, rhythmic pulses, grain clouds, reversed fragments, and atmospheric movement.
Aethon continuously captures audio passing through the plugin and breaks it into grains that can be repositioned, scattered, reversed, widened, smoothed, and recombined in real time.
The effect is designed to cover a wide range of processing, from subtle movement and added depth to heavily transformed sound design. Longer grains and lower transformation settings can preserve much of the original source while introducing motion and space, while shorter grains, higher Jitter, Reverse, Density, Position, and Feedback settings can pull the sound apart into more fragmented textures.
The Grain Engine includes controls for:
- Grain Size.
- Rate.
- Host-synchronized Rate modes.
- Density.
- Position.
- Jitter.
- Drift.
- Reverse.
- Spread.
- Width.
- Feedback.
- Smooth.
- Capture Length.
Aethon’s Rate control can run freely or synchronize grain timing to the host tempo for rhythmic and pulsing effects.
The Freeze function stops new audio from replacing the captured material while granular processing continues, allowing a moment of audio to be held and continuously transformed.
A separate Finishing FX section includes:
- High-pass and low-pass filtering.
- Color.
- Motion.
- Diffuse.
- Space Amount and Size.
- Stereo Width.
- Mix.
- Output.
Aethon also includes a real-time granular visualization and a collection of factory presets ranging from subtle atmospheric movement to synchronized pulses, reversed textures, grain clouds, and more experimental transformations.
Price: $69.95 – Aethon is available now for $34.97 as a 50% off introductory offer through September 14, 2026.
