Oxo Music releases Oxo Sample – lo-fi 12-bit sampler and sequencer

Oxo Music has released Oxo Sample, a lo-fi sampler, sequencer and drum machine for macOS, Windows and iPad, inspired by classic mid-80s hardware samplers: mono 12-bit / 32 kHz, live sliders, and of course that crunchy character.

The start, end and loop sliders are live: they directly access the audio buffer, e.g. placing start after end plays the sample in reverse. Audio can be recorded straight into a slot from any input, resampled from the plugin’s own output, or loaded from file.

Features

  • 6 sample slots with up to 6 voices each, monophonic (with portamento) or polyphonic.
  • 12-bit / 32 kHz mono capture from the input bus, or resample the output.
  • Degrade further by automatically resampling at 20, 16, 10 or 8 kHz.
  • Live editing of start / end / loop points while playing, with loop crossfade and random start point.
  • LPF and HPF filters; LFO to pitch, filter or loop point, free-running or retriggered.
  • Per-slot sequencer: 8 patterns of up to 64 steps and 9 polymetric lanes (Gate, Hold/Legato, Pitch, Octave, Velocity, Length, Probability, Control A and Control B).
  • Sequence the sampler’s parameters with the two Control lanes (e.g. filter and start/end/loop points).
  • Pattern changes launched across all 6 slots using 8 scenes.
  • Record live into the sequencer from MIDI in or from the preview slot button.
  • MIDI Learn, alternating stereo spread per voice, velocity to level and cutoff, undo/redo (audio edits included).
