Radio Slave – ‘Live My Life’

Matt Edwards produces yet another stripped-back, highly efficient dance floor worrier in the shape of ‘Live My Life. Essentially it’s little more than some tough rigid beats and a couple of looping vocals samples; it’s techno distilled down into it’s purest form. Save this one for a warehouse when we’re back, it’s a winner.
DJ Rush and Eric Sneo – Body Control / Take Me Back (Remixes)
Strong remix package of last year’s ‘Body Control’ and ‘Take Me Back’ from DJ Rush and Eric Sneo. Truncate takes the original of ‘Body Control’ and turns it into a clean, precise mini tech-epic, whilst Harry Romero’s take is an altogether rawer and more housey affair; both are quality.

Dark, uncompromising and knarly af, ‘Skynet 2040’ puts a broken kick pattern together with a low-end drone and some slowly mutating industrial stabs, with predictably excellent results.

And on an entirely different vibe, following their massive ‘Grand Hi’ tune earlier this year, Bruise turn in a piano-tastic re-rub of Lady Blackbird’s ‘Collage’ – her unique vocals perfectly framed by a Chicago-esque piano riff and deep house beats. Strong.
Coeo – I Can Never Be Yours

Four track EP of euphoric house music from Coeo on the ever-reliable ToyTonics imprint. Stand out track is ‘I Can Never Be Yours’ a potential mini-anthem that has hints of Subliminal Cuts classic ‘Le Voie Le Soleil’ which can never be a bad thing.

Berlin percussionist Moritz Von Oswald and Carl Craig get together on this unique release, marrying Detroit stabs, rolling beats and some sublime saxophone soloing to great effect. Blending jazz and techno requires a sophisticated approach and that’s what you get here. Deep.

‘Push’ is made up of old school vocal sample layered on top of de Luca’s trademark razor-sharp beats, with a fat synth single note riff that takes over at various part during the track. Heaps of dance floor dynamics in this one.
