Morphulus has updated Spectrus to v1.6.0, a free update to its modular multi-effect processor with Neural Amp Modeler capture player, a vintage opto phaser, two new amps and three new pedals, and the rack grows to eight slots with free-form routing between them.
New in 1.6.0:
- NAM Loader – A player for Neural Amp Modeler captures, with 21 amp-only captures of Spectrus’s own amps built in. Step through a folder with prev/next browsing (switches crossfade, so auditioning stays click-free), watch the Neural Rack visualizer draw the loaded capture’s actual network, and open the mono result out into stereo with a mono-compatible Width knob.
- Optophase – A vintage-style opto phaser: eight stages swept by a modeled incandescent lamp and photocells, whose thermal lag gives the sweep its asymmetric breathing. A continuous Lamp knob morphs from clean modern sweep to full lamp character, and Feedback runs past unity into a bounded self-oscillation.
- Two new amps, three new pedals – Outlaw 100, a modern high-gain head with three channel voicings including the aggressive Crush channel, and Praetor 50, pairing a pristine Clean with a touch-responsive Lead. On the pedal side: Woolly (germanium fuzz), Myth (transparent overdrive), and Tangerine (hard-clip distortion with a boost stage in front).
- Eight slots with free-form routing – The rack doubles from four slots to eight, revealed one at a time as you need them. The Input dropdowns are replaced by a row of squares on every slot – Main Input, then one per slot ahead of it – so a slot can listen to any combination of them, each with its own trim. Parallel buses and merge points without leaving the rack.
The update also brings zoom to the canvas, Ctrl+Shift+Wheel (Cmd+Shift+Wheel) zoom up to 4x, a per-slot Balance knob, a Master Output trim, Super Eco and Ultra Eco quality tiers for amps.
Spectrus runs as VST3 and CLAP on Windows, AU/VST3/CLAP on macOS, and VST3/LV2/CLAP on Linux. Licensing is fully offline – no internet connection required after purchase.
