KaitoSato has released IMFMSynth, an eight-operator FM synthesizer for Windows and macOS that allows wavetables to be used as FM operators.
Each operator can use a sine, triangle, sawtooth or square wave; white, pink, brown or gray noise; or a wavetable. Operators can be connected freely, with independent depth and phase offset for each connection and per-operator self-feedback.
The visual routing screen displays all eight operators, three filter stages and the output together. Connections are created by dragging between ports.
Features include:
- Wavetable operators: Import Serum- and Vital-style WAV wavetables and modulate the scan position.
- Custom envelopes: Draw multipoint envelopes with per-segment curves, sustain points and loops.
- Three filter stages: Independent filter settings, key tracking, drive and character.
- Four modulation slots: Tempo-synced LFOs with six waveforms, including sample-and-hold, plus ADSR modulation.
- Built-in effects: Drive, chorus, delay and reverb.
- 8-bit output mode: Quantizes the output amplitude to 256 steps.
- DX7 bank import: Load .syx banks as editable patches that can be modified with additional operators, wavetables, envelopes, filters and effects.
- Nine interface languages: English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Korean, German, French, Spanish and Russian.
Pricing & Availability
IMFMSynth is available for $19 during the beta campaign, as a one-time purchase covering up to three devices. The plugin runs offline after activation.
