FRCTL Audio has released DLAY v1.4.2, an update to its multi-tap delay plugin for macOS, Linux and Windows.
In DLAY every echo is a line on a timeline that you drag, shape and group, up to 64 of them, each with its own level, timing, pan, pitch and tone. Version 1.3.0 added a modulation band with two LFOs and an envelope follower. 1.4.2 lets that modulation run over whole song sections and reach single echoes.

Synced LFOs now go as slow as 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 12, 16 and 32 bars, and there are dotted and triplet values from 1/2 to 1/16. A slow sine on the filter or the feedback can open the delay up over a full chorus while staying in time with the host. Existing sessions keep their LFO rates.
An LFO or the envelope follower dropped onto a single tap in the editor moves only that echo, on whatever value the editor is showing: level, pan, pitch, formant, high-pass or low-pass cutoff, drive, feedback send or stereo width. The tap shows its modulation range and a moving dot, and a handle at the end of the range sets the depth. Each route also shows up in the routes list.
The modulation band has been reworked. LFO shapes are icon buttons, SYNC and HZ share one switch, RETRIG is now called PLAY, and each card’s knobs use the colour of their source. Dots in each header show how many knobs a source moves. The LFO rate knobs and the envelope’s attack, release and sensitivity are now modulation targets, so one LFO can speed up the other. A synced rate steps through note divisions as it moves.
A new I/O bar runs along the bottom of the window:
- IN sets the level going into the plugin and drives the delays and their saturation harder.
- WET sets the level of the echoes before the dry/wet mix, so the repeats can be turned up or down without changing MIX. WET can also be modulated, and its readout follows the level.
- OUT sets the final level.
There are input and output meters, and a help line that describes the control under the mouse, replacing the old hover popups. The bypass button cuts the echoes and passes the dry signal. When DLAY is switched back on it starts from silence, not from old repeats, and bypass is never saved in presets. Every new control starts at 0 dB or off, so existing projects and presets sound the same as before.
