AudioBrainhas released version 0.1.0 of BrushBrain, a soft brush percussion instrument for voice, guitar, and claps.
BrushBrain’s Voice to Brush mode analyzes incoming audio gestures and uses them to control a noise-based brush generator in real time.
The original voice is not used as the final sound source. Instead, BrushBrain extracts performance features such as amplitude, onset, spectral brightness, and gesture duration, then maps them to brush pressure, density, brightness, velocity, and impact behavior.
Typical gestures include:
- “Saaa” for continuous brush sweeps.
- “Shh” for short sweeps.
- “Tah,” “Chah,” or “Doh” for brush hits.
- “Saaa, tah, saaa” for automatic Sweep and Hit classification.
Voice Input Mode includes Off, Auto, Sweep, and Hit modes. Sensitivity and Response controls make it possible to choose between fast live performance response and smoother natural phrasing. Voice Monitor is optional and disabled by default, so the dry voice does not appear in the normal brush output.
BrushBrain uses procedural noise-based DSP with separate Brush, Head, Air, and Impact layers. It is designed for live performance, rhythmic textures, vocal percussion, lo-fi grooves, and subtle acoustic movement.
Version 0.1.0 supports:
- Voice, guitar, and clap performance modes.
- Real-time Voice to Brush control.
- Preset and session state recall.
Pricing & Availability
BrushBrain is available for macOS in VST3 and AU plugin formats for the introductory price of $9 (Reg. $19).
