AOFN Audio has released Grizzly, a free stereo modulation effect for macOS and Windows modelled on the infamous Gristleizer circuit.
Grizzly includes an internal LFO that drives a modelled JFET stage in two modes:
- VCA: controls the amplitude of the signal (tremolo, gating, rhythmic chopping, ringmod-adjacent tones above 20 Hz).
- VCF: sweeps a lowpass filter across it (autowah, filter pulses, cutoff sweeps).
Features:
- VCA mode: amplitude modulation from slow tremolo to audio-rate.
- VCF mode: lowpass filter modulation.
- LFO waveforms: triangle, square, saw up, saw down.
- Speed: 0.01 Hz – 30 Hz free-running, or host-synced from 1/1 to 1/32 note divisions.
- Shape: slope asymmetry for triangle, duty cycle for square.
- Offset: controls how much of each LFO cycle drives the effect.
- Bias: sets the resting position of the modulation.
- Drive: −12 to +24 dB pre-gain into the modulator.
- Spread: inter-channel LFO phase offset for stereo widening.
- Level: output trim.
- Bypass.
Availability
Grizzly is available for macOS 12 or later (Apple Silicon and Intel) in AU and VST3 formats, and for Windows 10/11 x64 in VST3. It is available for free.
