All The Machines has released a trio of iOS AUv3 distortion plugins: Strange, Drift, and Wreck. Each targets a different approach to signal destruction, and all three are available individually or as a bundle:
- Strange (“Chaos Distortion”) replaces a conventional static waveshaper curve with Lorenz and Logistic chaos attractors — deterministic mathematical systems — to reshape audio. Four modes are included: Fold (wavefolding), Shatter (quantized scatter), Warp (domain warp), and Glitch (block displacement). Because the distortion pattern is driven by chaotic mathematics, it evolves continuously and does not repeat.
- Drift (“Shape Shifter”) takes a different approach: the saturation transfer curve drifts up to 50% from its origin with each pass through the plugin, making every instance behave slightly differently over time. A DRIVE control covers warmth through hard clipping, while a DRIFT control sets the speed and range of that wandering. At low settings the behavior is warm and musical; at high settings it becomes unpredictable.
- Wreck (“Sample Destroyer”) is a five-stage destruction chain combining Drive, Bit Crush, Ring Mod, Fold, and Wavecycle Shaper in series. The stages are independent, and the range runs from subtle grit to full signal annihilation.
All three plugins require iOS 14.0 or later and operate as AUv3 audio units within compatible iOS host apps.
Pricing & Availability
Strange, Drift, and Wreck are available now on the iOS App Store. Individual pricing runs $1.99–$3.99 per plugin; a bundle of all three is $5.99.
