Våld Labs Releases Vekte Algorithmic MIDI Sequencer v1.3.0

Våld Labs has released Vekte 1.3.0, the first commercial desktop version of its generative MIDI sequencer for macOS and Windows.

A lighter version of Vekte’s sequencing engine is also used in Våld Labs’ Tresse and Kurare synthesizers and Ravik drum synthesizer.

Vekte combines note generation, modulation sequencing and LFOs, with user-defined scales, chords, timing and probability settings. It includes SEQ, KIT and ARP modes for melodic sequencing, drum triggering and arpeggiation.

Core features:

  • Sixteen slots, each configurable as a melodic sequencer, drum sequencer or arpeggiator, with MIDI-channel and internal ARP routing.
  • 41 generative algorithms for both note and modulation lanes, including Euclidean, Random Walk, Voice Leading and Wave Interference.
  • Note sequences of up to 32 steps, with independent lane lengths, divisions, rotations and playback directions.
  • Four modulation sequencers and four LFOs per slot, each assignable to up to 32 simultaneous destinations from 421 available targets, including internal parameters and MIDI CC outputs, with support for self-modulation.
  • Root, scale, chord and octave-range controls for constraining generated notes.
  • Articulation controls including note length, ties, strum, up to 32 ratchet attacks, note repeats, Quick Arp with self-arpeggiation, swing, multiple humanization models, approach notes and fills.
  • KIT mode with up to eight mapped drum rows, MIDI note learning and per-row mute/solo.
  • Arpeggiation driven by external MIDI or other slots, including SEQ-to-ARP routing and ARP chains.
  • Seed-based generation, manual note editing, adjustable randomization amounts and locks for preserving selected notes and settings.
  • MIDI Learn and host automation, preset/song/set management, and pattern sharing through text keys, QR codes and portable .VKT files.

Changes in version 1.3.0 include:

  • Contextual Explain help on desktop and iPad, plus hover tooltips on desktop.
  • A MOD/LFO Explorer displaying modulation sources, destinations and real-time activity, with mute, solo and removal controls.
  • Context-menu commands for assigning and detaching modulation, and visual indicators for modulated parameters.
  • Independent clocks for note, MOD and LFO systems, with tempo-synchronized and free-running timing. LFO clock options include audio-rate operation and WTFO base cycles from ten minutes to 1,000 years.
  • Simultaneous MOD and LFO operation, including modulation of sequencing parameters, harmonic controls, MIDI CC output and transport positions.
  • Repeat mode, allowing notes to repeat before the sequence advances, with configurable and modulatable repeat counts.
  • Expanded chord mapping, scale-degree transposition, scale-aware inversion, root quantization and arpeggiation.
  • A redesigned preset browser for presets, songs and sets.
  • Additional algorithms and a Cycle display estimating when independent timing systems will align.

Availability & Pricing

Vekte 1.3.0 is available for macOS 11 or later as a Universal Intel/Apple Silicon standalone app, VST3 plug-in and AUv3 MIDI effect, and for Windows x64 as a VST3 plug-in and standalone app. The desktop version costs €34.99 until 31 October 2026, with a regular price of €44.99. Licensed users can use the software offline.

The iPad version is currently available in TestFlight beta; its commercial release is forthcoming.
