kyamerA, the plugin company founded by producer Alex Greggs (*NSYNC, Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, M.I.A.), has released TELSTAR, a drum instrument built around playable performance features rather than vintage emulation.
TELSTAR includes 40 original kits with no shared sounds between them, all effects baked in, and a low CPU footprint.
Features:
- Key Switching Drums: MIDI key switches change the entire kit mid-pattern, so kit changes can be sequenced as part of the pattern.
- 808 Mechanik: layer-level shaping of the 808-style kick, snare and clap. The Bass Mechanic preset makes the kick playable as a bass line.
- Random Robins: every hit triggers a slightly different variation to avoid machine-gun repetition.
- Vocoder Drums: play melodies on the pitch keys while drums trigger on the drum keys.
Price: $47 – Through August 10, 2026, every TELSTAR purchase includes NEW YORK 1981 (normally $47) free – kyamerA’s standalone instrument covering electro-funk, machine soul and early hip-hop, with 128 presets spanning basses, synths, leads, pads and sound effects, plus drum kits.
