CEDAR Audio Releases Voxis – Sub-10ms Neural Network Voice Isolator

Live mixers and broadcast engineers often have to lift speech or singing out of rooms they do not control: a conference PA, a festival stage, a sports feed. Voxis is CEDAR Audio’s new voice isolator for those jobs. It is the latest plugin in the ICONS range and is built around a deep neural network rather than a conventional expander or a stored noise print.

The number that matters for live use is latency. CEDAR specifies less than 10 milliseconds, which is why the company is pointing Voxis at front-of-house vocals, live recordings, sports and event broadcast, and conference AV, not only at clips in a DAW. The same figure is what keeps it usable for singers and spoken-word presenters who will hear the processed signal in headphones or wedges.

The network is trained to recognize speech and sung voice and to separate them from background noise and excess reverb. On the product page CEDAR lists three main controls that target low, mid, and high frequency bands, plus a Link button so all three move together and keep the tonal balance, and a Voice control that raises the isolated voice. Typical targets are air-conditioning rumble, traffic, audience noise, and room ambience.

Voxis is the third ICONS plugin CEDAR has shipped this year. The Cambridge company has a long history in digital dialogue noise suppression, spectral editing, and real-time restoration, and it is treating this one as a live-sound tool first.

Voxis is our third new plug-in this year, and we continue to deliver on our ambitious product roadmap for 2026 that includes new hardware as well as creative software tools,

Andy Trott, CEO of CEDAR Audio.
