Blue Cat Audio updates Re-Head to v1.4 – Ultra-Low Latency and Expanded MIDI Control

Blue Cat Audio has announced a major update to Re-Head, its plug-in designed to make headphones listening easier and more comfortable for musicians and audio professionals. Version 1.4 delivers significantly lower latency, improved performance and more flexible MIDI control.

Thanks to optimized filters, Re-Head’s latency has been reduced from 3.2 milliseconds to just 0.5 milliseconds, making the plug-in significantly more responsive while preserving its distinctive head response correction capabilities. The update also brings improvements to both GUI and DSP performance, as well as new MIDI and multitouch control features (full change list below).

Re-Head is designed to recreate a more natural room-like listening experience when using headphones. While it cannot replace studio monitors or a guitar cabinet in a real room, it can make headphone listening more comfortable and realistic. It also provides a simple way to apply headphone response compensation curves.

The update is free for existing Re-Head customers. A special introductory offer of 20% off is also available for new customers. Fully functional demo versions are available as free downloads in most common plug-in formats for Mac and Windows.

What’s New In Re-Head 1.4:

  • Reduced latency from 3.2 to 0.5 milliseconds with optimized filters.
  • Improved GUI and DSP performance.
  • Fixed an issue where reverting the current preset did not always trigger undo properly.
  • Expanded MIDI Control: all parameters can now be controlled with MIDI notes, pitch bend, NRPN, 14-bit CCs, aftertouch or channel pressure, in addition to existing MIDI CC support.
  • Multiple user interface improvements for MIDI control settings.
  • Windows: added multitouch support, allowing multiple controls to be manipulated simultaneously with several fingers.
