Dropshot Audio has released Tight Lines, a free dual-band dynamics processor for macOS, Windows and Linux.
Tight Lines splits audio into low and high bands, allowing each range to be compressed or expanded independently before being recombined. It covers conventional downward compression and expansion, along with upward dynamics for bringing up detail or holding on to peaks.
The processor includes adjustable crossover frequency, ratio, threshold, knee, attack, release and look-ahead controls, plus a dry/wet blend and optional oversampled soft clipping. Its Fishy mode uses a feedback-style approach that responds to the output signal, alongside a more direct Normal mode.
Designed to stay light on CPU, Tight Lines is intended for use across individual tracks, buses, and more experimental dynamics processing – not specifically as a mastering compressor (but you can use it as such too.).
Tight Lines is available for free as VST3, AU and CLAP plugins and a standalone application at dropshotaudio.com/tight-lines
