1010 Music Announces Blackbox 2: Sampler with 2X Power, Shredder Instrument and 3-Hour Battery

1010music has announced blackbox 2, the successor to its compact desktop sampler, featuring double the processing power, a new 4″ high-resolution color touchscreen, and a set of instrument and performance additions developed alongside the company’s flagship bento production lab.

The new Shredder instrument combines granular and slicing techniques to generate fragmented motion from samples. The Track screen supports up to four instruments simultaneously — One-Shot, Loop, Slicer, Shredder, or Multisample — with One-Shot and Loop instruments each supporting up to 16 samples per Patch.

Sequences can be built via step sequencer, grid/piano roll, or probability controls. The touchscreen supports finger drumming on One-Shots and a virtual keyboard for multisampled instruments. Loop Groups allow multiple loops to launch simultaneously with BPM sync.

Performance features carry over from bento: Launch, Scene, Song, Mixing, and Effects screens handle live playback. New DJ effects (Filter, Delay, EQ, Gate, and Repeater) are controlled via an XY pad. Internal resampling is included.

blackbox 2 adds USB-C host and device ports for multichannel USB audio and MIDI, 1 stereo input, 3 stereo outputs, and a stereo headphone output. A 3-hour internal battery supports portable use. Samples stream from microSD with capacity limited only by card size.
