XterminatorApps has released version 2.1.0 of AbletonLiveAAF, a utility for Windows and macOS that converts between AAF (Advanced Authoring Format) files and native Ableton Live project files (.als). This is a major update that adds conversion in the opposite direction, exporting an Ableton Live arrangement as an AAF for six target DAWs.
Previous versions converted AAF sessions into Ableton Live Sets. Version 2.1.0 adds ALS to AAF export, writing the file in “the chosen DAW’s own dialect” rather than as one generic AAF, with targets covering Pro Tools, Cubase / Nuendo, Sequoia / Samplitude, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro and Logic Pro, plus a Universal option. Clip positions, clip gain, volume automation, tempo and time signature are carried across, and the audio can either be copied into a samples folder beside the AAF or embedded in a single self contained file.
Changes in v2.1.0:
- Ableton Live Set to AAF conversion, exporting to Pro Tools, Cubase / Nuendo, Sequoia / Samplitude, DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Logic Pro or Universal.
- Target application selector, with timeline frame rate and sample rate selection.
- Batch conversion in both directions, with files addable or removable before converting.

- Start offset to shift an arrangement later by bars or seconds when importing to Live.
- Time stretch detection, naming clips warped to a different tempo so they can be consolidated in Live first.
- AIFF and AIFF-C support for source audio.
- Exported filenames now carry target, sample rate and frame rate.
- Pre-flight summary now also reports MIDI tracks and tracks with effects, which AAF cannot carry.
- Redesigned settings panel with all conversion options in one collapsible panel.
- Fades and crossfades are no longer exported, keeping clip positions exact.
- Fix: clips played the wrong section of audio in Pro Tools and Sequoia.
- Fix: sample rate mismatch that caused Cubase to reject the import.
- Fix: clips landed early in DaVinci Resolve.
- Fix: clip gain appeared as an automation lane in Sequoia and Logic Pro.
- Fix: export failed at 96 kHz and above.
- Fix: Logic Pro AAF files were analysed as empty and are now read correctly.
- Fix: Pro Tools and Logic Pro are now identified correctly by name.
- Fix: exported AAFs no longer reference Ableton’s library folder, so they open on any machine.
- Fix: the log file now records everything shown in the console.
- Trial email resend now has a 60 second cooldown.
