Windows-G has announced the release of E-Compressor600, a JSFX expander plugin for REAPER that features both downward and upward compression modes:
- The downward compression mode can be used to control peaks or loud signals, tame transients, glue mix elements together, and for downward parallel compression.
- The upward compression mode can be used to lift up buried details in mixes such as room ambience or reverb, enhance the tail of instruments without crushing the peaks, and for upward parallel compression.
E-Compressor600 also features two detection source modes (Main Input and Sidechain Input), lookahead control (0 ms to 20 ms), detection gain control (-30 dB to +30 dB) for boosting or attenuating the detection signal, four channel detection modes (Stereo Linked, Stereo Unlinked, Left Only, Right Only), and adjustable high-pass (10 Hz—20 kHz) and low-pass (20 Hz—21 kHz) filters for sculpting the detection signal to prevent unwanted frequencies from triggering the compressor.
Additionally, it provides two level detection modes (“Peak” for fast compression response, and “RMS” for slower response). RMS mode uses the RMS window (1 ms to 1000 ms) to control averaging time.
Control the downward compression with the downward ratio control (1.0 to 100), the upward compression with the upward ratio control (1.0 to 100), along with threshold (-100 dB to 0 dB), and knee size (0 dB to 30 dB) for hard-knee or soft-knee compression. Shape the envelope with exponential attack (1 ms to 500 ms) and release (1 ms to 2000 ms) curves.
The GUI provides left/right detection level meter with a threshold line, and a left/right gain reduction/output level meter. A Filter Preview button solos the detection filters, a bypass button allows toggling of the compression effect on or off without audio clicks, and a delta button isolates the difference between the wet and dry signals to reveal what the compressor is removing or adding based on the compression mode.
Pricing & Availability
E-Compressor600 is available now for $14.
This JSFX plugin can also be used in other DAWs through the open-source YSFX plugin. YSFX is available in VST3, AU, and CLAP formats for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
