Primary Vx from WAVDSP is a real-time vocal processing plugin built to separate a vocal signal from surrounding bleed and ambience, then hold back feedback when gain is pushed.
The plugin runs a three-stage engine designed to treat vocal bleed as a source-separation problem rather than applying broadband noise reduction. Vx Source Detection tracks the vocal source in real time, not the bleed around it. Source Separation strips unwanted instruments, room ambience, and stage noise from the vocal path. A third stage, Feedback Protection, allows engineers to push more gain before feedback without degrading the vocal signal.
The target contexts are live and location scenarios where the signal chain cannot be controlled at the source: mixing a vocalist in front of a live drum kit, running gain near a PA at stage volume, or capturing vocals in an acoustically compromised room. The design intent is that each stage stays focused on the voice rather than processing the full signal.
