VGTrumpet has released VG Windscape, an audiovisual instrument: a sound instrument and a live picture in one.
While you play, your breath and your notes paint the picture, so the image is made by the performance itself, not by a preset animation running to a clock.
Features
- The picture runs in Chrome next to the instrument and listens to the same MIDI: breath moves the brush, the notes place it and give it colour.
- Designed for wind controllers, breath controllers and MIDI keyboards. Breath, mod wheel, expression or any MIDI CC can drive the brush, and any CC can be mapped to something on the screen.
- Never the same twice: the same piece played twice gives two different pictures.
- The brush paints out of photographs: a picture library is included, or point it at a folder of your own.
- Many looks, from frosted glass, rain and liquid colour to kaleidoscope, stars, text and long trails, saved as presets.
- Scenes glide from one look to another on a timer or on a note.
- Made for the stage: full screen on a projector or second monitor, with the controls detached into their own window. The picture runs beside the instrument, so it cannot affect the sound.
- One button records the picture together with the sound as a video file.
- Thirteen sound sets for pads and textures, built for long attacks and long tails.
- Pad/Scape mode: attack and release stretch to three seconds, so one breath becomes a bed under the picture.
- Delay, reverb and freeze on each of the three layers, with the freeze played from the controller.
- Built on the VG Wind Ensemble engine and keeps all of it: three instrument layers, breath and wind controller handling, keyswitches, Harmonizer, portamento and the Backing Track Player.
- Every sound set from the VG Sound Collection plays in VG Windscape, and the thirteen pad sets play in VG Wind Ensemble too.
- No Kontakt, no sampler and no other software required for the sound. VG Windscape is a self-contained plugin and standalone application.
- Works with Windows and Mac as a standalone and runs as a plugin in all major DAWs (Cubase, Logic Pro, Ableton Live, Reaper, FL Studio etc.) as VST/VST3/AU. Google Chrome is needed for the visual part.
- Compatible with breath controllers (AirMotion, TEControl, MRTAudio), wind controllers (AKAI EWI4000s, EWI5000, Solo, Roland Aerophone AE-10, AE-20, Pro AE-30, Yamaha WX, Yamaha YDS, Berglund NuEVI, NuRad, EMEO, Robkoo R1, Clarii Mini, Greaten AP-500 Pro, DigiBrass Tilt, Tipsy, WARBL etc.), and MIDI keyboard controllers.
