UnitedPlugins has announced the release of Relooper, a real-time loop remixing utility developed by JMG Sound.
The plugin is designed to generate new rhythmic layers and grooves from existing audio in real-time without the requirement of loading external samples.
Core Functionality
Relooper utilizes a groove engine that captures slices of incoming audio into a buffer. These slices are replayed at various speeds, directions, and positions based on 64 available patterns. The engine includes eight categories of manipulation, including time-stretching, reversing, and syncopation.
Signal Processing Modules
The signal path consists of three primary modules to further alter the generated grooves:
- Profile: This section morphs the input signal into one of 64 profiles, adopting the characteristics of drum types, foley, or resonant 3D spaces. It also supports MIDI input for resynthesis.
- Effect: Users can select from 64 different effect types, including distortion, modulation filters, and standard mixing tools like compressors and EQs.
- Motion: This module provides 120 level modulation modes. It can be configured to function as an auto-fill generator, a trance-gate, or a sidechain-style pumping effect.
Workflow Features
Relooper features two independent layers (A and B) that can be mixed with the dry signal. To assist with rapid iteration, a smart randomization algorithm is included to generate new settings based on user-defined parameters. Relooper stays synchronized with the host DAW tempo and operates entirely in real-time.
