Studio One 4.5 is now available from PreSonus. Studio One 4.5 has over 70 new features and improvements which promises a faster workflow. Especially hard work was done to improve the CPU load. The multicore engine runs better and that brings up to 70 percent less for native plug-ins and up to 50 percent less CPU load for third-party plug-ins. That is remarkable!
The revised mixer section for the input channels now provides a software-based input gain as well as a phasing parameter in each channel. Furthermore, the routing is now better and offers a reverse sidechain.
The editing features for MIDI notes have gotten some new features such as a random option, scale assignments or a grade mirroring. These functions can also be placed on shortcuts and embedded in macros. The chord selection allows the preview.
The export was also improved. A video in various formats can now be exported together with the mixdown. Furthermore, support for MP3, AAC, and ALAC with variable bit rates has been integrated.
Audio events, audio parts, and instrument parts now lock users in the Arrangement window to prevent accidental movement or editing. Large libraries of plug-ins and virtual instruments are now organized much faster and more clearly.
There is also a new plug-in manager, new grouping functionality (nesting, naming, coloring, etc.), and streamlined routing.
Studio One 4.5 only runs on 64 bit and runs on Windows 7 and higher (SP1), Windows 8.1, Windows 10 as well as on macOS 10.11 and higher. The price of version 4 is 392.70 euros – the 4.5 update is free for all owners of the 4-version.
