Strymon has introduced La Brea, an all-analog tape saturation drive pedal joining Fairfax and Canoga in its Series A range.
La Brea uses multi-stage tape saturation techniques to produce sounds ranging from mild breakup to borderline fuzz, with natural compression. Its development began more than a decade ago, when Strymon analog engineer Josh Forbes started experimenting with analog drive circuits inspired by the research behind Deco.
A three-position Shift switch provides tonal shaping, with settings that emphasize high frequencies or both highs and upper mids. A fully variable dry signal path remains in phase with the processed signal, helping retain clarity and articulation at higher Tape Sat settings. The pedal operates internally at 24 volts for increased headroom.
