Sound Radix has released a beta version of Radical1, an additive synthesizer focused on expression, movement, and hands-on sound exploration. The new beta introduces the initial public Windows version alongside macOS, adds a new set of Radical presets, and includes the Aggregate Modifier, allowing envelopes to modulate parameters in the global audio effects section.
Key Features
- Expressive Additive Engine: Radical1 builds sound from harmonics that can be sculpted, bent, and animated. It allows the creation of evolving, instrument-like tones, spectrally rich textures, or more modern electronic sounds, with musical response to performance input.
- Infinitely Modular Architecture: The instrument supports multiple layers, blocks, and modulators, limited primarily by available CPU resources. This enables anything from subtle variations to complex, evolving transformations within a single patch.
- Spectral Tools with Musical Focus: Radical1 operates directly at the harmonic level, using shaping oscillators, spectral filters, and time-varying modifiers. This approach allows detailed sound design while maintaining a playable and intuitive workflow.
