Snorkel Audio has released Little Arp Monster, a MIDI arpeggiator for macOS, Windows, and iPad.
Rather than repeating a single figure forever, Little Arp Monster lets you build patterns from arpeggiated notes, full chords, rests, and even notes outside the chord, then evolve them across a full arrangement. Little Arp Monster outputs MIDI, so it drives any synth or sampler you point it at.
At its center is a 16-step grid that works in scale degrees rather than fixed notes, so changing the key moves every note with it. A finely tuned randomizer creates fresh, musical patterns or reshapes your own, and a single Spice dial sweeps from classic, tasteful arpeggios all the way to ideas no traditional arp would land on.
Highlights
- Step grid – sequence scale degrees, full chords, and rests across 16 steps; everything stays in key.
- 16 scenes – each with its own settings and step grid, for gentle variations on one idea or completely different motifs.
- Arranger – place markers along a timeline to swap scenes, shift degrees, change chord types, or transpose the key exactly when you choose.
- Modulation lane – shape Velocity, Cutoff, Decay, or any CC, locked to the same steps as your notes and following you when you switch scenes.
- Randomize and Mutate – reroll from scratch or nudge what you already have; both stay musical, with Spice setting how adventurous they get.
- Built-in audition synth – sketch ideas and hear the arp without a connected instrument.
Formats
- macOS – VST3 and Audio Unit (AU).
- Windows – VST3.
- iPad – AUv3. Requires an AUv3 host that supports MIDI processor plugins, such as AUM.
