Sketch Audio Releases Free “Series 9000” Filter & Distortion Plug-in

Sketch Audio has released Series 9000, a free filter and distortion plug-in.

Series 9000 contains the same sixth-order filter found in a rackmount sampler from the late 1980s. The steep, 36 dB/Oct rolloff makes this filter cut away a mix in an extremely satisfying way. Like the hardware, it won’t close completely, so you’ll still hear the backbone of your sound coming through, even with cutoff at minimum.

The plug-in pairs the classic filter with some original additions, in four controls:

  • Cutoff – filter cutoff.
  • Drive – custom saturators embedded in each filter stage (fully clean at 0 dB).
  • Q – filter resonance.
  • Env – envelope follower modulation of the cutoff, with adaptive release.

Series 9000 is available in the AAX, AUv2, AUv3, CLAP, and VST3 formats for macOS, Windows, and iOS, and is free to download at sketchaudio.com. Desktop installers require a free Sketch Audio account; the iOS version is available on the App Store.

Users that want to dig in further can step up to Scissor Hands at sketchaudio.com, which adds a high-pass filter, more filter orders, and deeper modulation options.
