Sinevibes has released version 3.0 of Malfunction, the circuit-bent filter effect plugin, now available for macOS, Windows and Linux.
Malfunction is based on a unique experimental algorithm: a filter model whose internal connections have been intentionally tampered with.
This virtual circuit produces a very specific, rough and screaming distortion that can instantly turn even the most primitive sounds into complex, expressive, glitchy and unpredictable textures that are full of character.
To shape the sound further, Malfunction includes a super-smooth state variable filter with 5 modes and up to -48 dB/octave slope. Furthermore, both filters can be animated by two highly flexible, stereo LFOs – each featuring a huge collection of waveforms.
Sound Engine
- One-of-a-kind circuit-bent filter algorithm with two distinct character modes and aliasing suppression via 4× oversampling.
- Input noise gate with adjustable threshold.
- Multi-mode state variable filter with up to four sequential stages and five modes: Low-Pass, High-Pass, Band-Pass, Notch and Peaking.
- Two advanced LFOs with through-zero phase design, optional BPM and transport sync, variable bipolar stereo offset, offering a total of 15 different bipolar and unipolar waveforms.
- Lag filters on all continuous parameters for smooth, click-free adjustment.
- Supports mono › mono, mono › stereo, and stereo › stereo channel configurations.
Pricing & Availability
Malfunction is available now for $29 for macOS, Windows and Linux in VST3, AU and AAX plugin formats.
