Boiler Room faces backlash. Technics set to release premium turntable. New granular synth from Ableton.

Spoiler Room. During carnival week, a campaign was launched against Boiler Room, their apparent appropriation of culture, use of Arts Council funding and streaming people without their permission. It included graffiti, and a Medium post, amongst other things.

(Un)Safe. Meanwhile, the Guardian write about how overcrowding and underfunding could lead to some serious disasters at the Notting Hill Carnival in future.

Deck-heads only. Technics are set to issue their “most premium analogue, direct drive” turntable. The SP-10R, loosely based on the original 1970s SP-10, is meant to deliver the best signal-to-noise ratio in the world and comes with a separate power pack in order to reduce hum and vibration.
