This week’s top mixes include Mustafa Ismaeel for Sunset Grooves, Objekt for Resident Advisor and Mytron & Otofo for Lodown Magazine.
Objekt for Resident Advisor. Another excellent mix in the RA series, with Objekt stepping up this time. As he prepares for the imminent release of his new album, Objekt continues to push the boundaries here, providing an hour long mix without a single kick drum in sight! With an emphasis on creating strong rhythmic grooves without relying on a kick drum, this results in unconventional sequences of constantly evolving polyrhythms. You’ve no idea where the bar starts (or ends), but you could dance to the whole thing!
Mytron & Ofofo for Lodown. Berlin-based Lodown Magazine drop their latest podcast courtesy of Mytron & Otofo. Describing their studio sound as ‘mid-tempo pop-inflected disco for open minds’, this mix without a doubt living up to that statement. Mytron & Otofo keep disco as the backbone throughout, but you’re constantly kept guessing as to where the mix is heading next, as they weave in electro, afro and even world music along the way.

Mustafa Ismaeel for Sunset Grooves. Based in Switzerland, Sunset Grooves have been dropping regular podcasts since 2013 along with their events in Lausanne under the same name. This time inviting Mustafa Ismaeel to provide the goods. Co-founder of Deep House Toronto and member of the Dream Culture record label, he spins a set of beautifully blissful out beats, seamlessly mixing up melodic and progressive house with a Balearic twist.
Pushmann for Dead Cert Records. Something a bit more banging for your eardrums now, as Spain’s Pushmann provides the latest mix for the Dead Cert Records series. From the get go this mix is dark and sinister, as Pushmann lays down one percussive techno roller after another.
