March’s Best Music

March best music

Here’s our round-up of the very best electronic music released in March.

Slam – Inversion EP

Label: Soma

Full throttle stuff here from Scotlands finest purveyors of deep analog techno. Pulsing synth lines, driven 909s and squelchy 303s dominate in this 4 track EP of peak-time bangers.

Omar S – You Want

Label: FXHE

The ever prolific Omar S drops the ‘You Want’ album on his own FXHE label. 14 tracks showcasing Omar S’ ubiquitous sound, a combination of techno soul, jackin’ house and punchy 909 drum workouts.

Daniel Avery + Alessandro Cortini – Illusion of Time

Label: Phantasy / Mute

This beatless LP from Avery and Alessandro Cortini is definitely one for the home listening experience. The pair have collaborated before, with similar results. 10 tracks of blissed-out ambient electronics, industrial drones and otherworldly textures.

Christian Kroupa – A Little Flower EP

Label: Fruit Merchant

This new EP from Christian Kroupa (AKA Alleged Witches) drops on Hidden Spheres’ Fruit Merchant imprint. 3 tracks of Balearic retro-soul backed with an excellent remix from Manuel Fischer.

Catching Flies – Z (Laurence Guy Remix)

Label: Indigo Soul

One of many outstanding reworks taken from the Catching Flies ‘Silver Linings Remixed’ album. This interpretation of ‘Z’ from Laurence Guy sets the piano to a breakbeat house rhythm, weaving in string parts and pad basses to superb effect.

Kmyle – Equator

Label: A R T S

A R T S is the excellent label and collective founded by Emmanuel. The label is steadily building a reputation for quality underground techno with this EP from Paris based Kmyle being no exception. Stomping 4x4s and trippy, melodic overtones dominate in this 5 tracker.

Biesmans & Vandesande – Inglorious Express

Label: TAU

Berlin pair Biesemans & Vandesande debut on Adana Twins’ TAU label with this new EP. New wave synths rub shoulders with glassy FM leads and electro breaks. ’Prisoner of Love’ is the standout track, with an insanely catchy hook set to chunky electro beats.

Bicep – Atlas

Label: Ninja Tune

An absolute gem here from Bicep, as they continue to straddle the line between the underground and overground. Staccato synths, retro breakbeats and infectious vocal harmonies ensure this one will get some serious rotation in the coming months.
