Off the back of new single “Show Me”, Kashovski takes on our Q&A, covering everything from Zidane to his greatest fear.
What’s your greatest fear?
God’s judgement.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?
Sometimes I’m a bit too reserved.
If you weren’t making or playing music, what would you be doing?
A professional athlete. Maybe football, if I’d been good enough.
What was your most embarrassing moment?
I once played a private party where the guy who booked me spent the first 20 minutes dancing alone in front of me, asking for nothing but my own tracks.
What would your superpower be?
Reading a crowd.
If you could bring something extinct back to life, what would you choose?
The original Ibiza beach afterparties.
[quote align=right text=”The best moment? The studio: That’s where the magic happens”]
What was the last lie that you told?
Pretending I remembered someone when I didn’t.
Must-visit record store or studio?
Yoyaku Record Shop, Paris.
How do you like to finish your sets?
With a classic. Not necessarily electronic music.
If not yourself, who would you most like to be?
Michael Jackson.
When’s the last time you changed your mind about something significant?
Cancelling a release because the vibe around it didn’t feel right anymore.
What sparks your creativity?
Listening to music, running, and stepping into clubs where I don’t know what I’m about to hear.
Who’s the next name everyone should know?
ZARO from Brazil. Keep an eye on him.
Favourite sportsperson ever?
Zinedine Zidane.
Best moment in a club or studio?
The studio. That’s where the magic happens.
Who taught or helped you the most?
My own mistakes.
Worst job you’ve ever had?
Construction work during my summer holidays as a teenager.
Which track do you wish you’d made?
Moby – Go.
What’s the worst track or set you’ve ever done?
Thankfully, my worst tracks are still sitting on my hard drive.
How do you organise your music collection for your sets?
By genre first, then by date. I also create folders for different periods depending on what I’m playing.
Recommend a film.
Oldboy. One of the best plot twists I’ve ever seen.
Recommend a book.
I don’t really read books. I prefer articles and documentaries.
[quote align=right text=”More credit? People with real talent, not just big followings”]
Favourite internet clip of all time, music or otherwise?
Reboot playing his edit of “Caminando”.
Who or what deserves more credit?
People with real talent, not just big followings.
What gets too much hype?
The obsession with follower counts.
What can’t you stop doing?
Listening to new music.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Fine pastries.
What’s your biggest frustration in the music world?
That great music alone isn’t always enough to build a career.
Favourite label and why?
Calamar. It feels like home.
What’s the hardest thing about making or playing music?
Running out of inspiration.
