IK Multimedia has released Sinphonica Maestosa Strings, a virtual instrument featuring a 60-piece Italian symphonic string orchestra recorded at Officine Meccaniche Studios in Milan. The library is the first release in the company’s new Sinphonica family of orchestral instruments.
Developed over seven years, Maestosa Strings includes five orchestral sections: 16 First Violins, 14 Second Violins, 12 Violas, 10 Cellos, and 8 Double Basses. The library offers more than 40 articulations, five True Legato styles, and eight microphone perspectives.
Performance and Articulation Controls
Maestosa Strings includes five True Legato styles: Glissando, Portamento Slow, Portamento Fast, Slur, and Runs. These are complemented by multiple dynamic layers, vibrato variations, and round-robin samples.
The library also introduces Articulation Morphing, which allows transitions between different playing techniques, and PALCO Virtual Stage Positioning, a system for customizing the seating positions of instruments within the virtual orchestra.
Keyswitch presets provide access to different articulations during performance, while dedicated ensemble instruments allow composers to sketch orchestral arrangements without programming individual sections.
The library also includes cinematic textures, such as drones and tension stabs, across the string sections.
