HoRNet updates HoRNet SAMP to v1.3.0 — Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 Support

HoRNet Plugins has released version 1.3.0 of HoRNet SAMP, their virtual master bus plugin for Dolby Atmos workflows.

Version 1.3.0 introduces full support for Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 bed configurations, lower CPU usage in Nuendo 13, smoother limiter response in sync mode, and more accurate true peak limiting for Atmos delivery specifications.

New Features:

  • Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 support: Full 12-channel routing for the new bed standard. SAMP now handles 7.1.4 beds natively, keeping unified processing — EQ, compressor, clipper and limiter — consistent across all bed channels.
  • Lower CPU on Atmos sessions in Nuendo 13: Optimized limiter lookahead buffer and true peak detection reduce DSP load on large immersive sessions. Internal tests on MacBook Pro M3 Pro with 80-track Atmos sessions showed measurable CPU reduction.
  • Smoother limiter response in sync mode: Release time changes no longer cause audible pumping. Release-time interpolation now transitions smoothly across a few cycles rather than snapping, allowing real-time tempo sync adjustments without transport interruption.
  • More accurate true peak limiting: Recalibrated oversampling stage better matches common DAC reconstruction filters, catching intersample peaks the previous version could miss by a fraction of a dB.

Improvements:

  • Restructured per-instance metering overhead when many SAMP instances are open.
  • Improved channel routing handling when switching between 7.1.2 and 7.1.4 beds.
