Green Oak has announced the release of v2.6.0 of the free Crystal synth with native Apple Silicon support, updated macOS and Windows compatibility, AU and VST3 formats, and a refreshed, scalable interface.
For nearly a quarter of a century, Green Oak Software’s Crystal has helped musicians and sound designers explore sounds ranging from lush, evolving atmospheres to rhythmic textures and experimental timbres.
Crystal 2.6.0 retains the depth that made it popular: three synthesis voices, sample and SoundFont support, wave sequencing, granularity, FM synthesis, flexible multistage envelopes, an extensive modulation matrix, tempo-synced LFOs, expressive filters, four delay lines, patch sharing with the iPhone/iPad version, and patch breeding for discovering new sounds.
This release renews a classic synthesizer, decidedly retro and keeping its legacy of sonic exploration while inviting fresh discoveries.
