Gazillion Industries has released F(ilter) 12 and Beefy, a lo-fi filter and a saturation and loudness effect.
F(ilter) 12
F(ilter) 12 is a filter with a lo-fi section in front of it and an adaptive correction stage on top.
The lo-fi section pairs SAMPLE RATE, which folds the top end back down as new content, with BIT, which coarsens the resolution up to twelve bits.
The filter offers five shapes – low-pass, high-pass, band-pass, notch, and a morph that runs from a closing low-pass through untouched to an opening high-pass – with eight resonance shapes that sit at fixed distances from the filter position and travel with it. Auto-filter and sidechain inputs add movement.
AURA is an adaptive correction, with a MAX AURA setting for a stronger effect.
Beefy
Beefy makes sounds thicker, punchier and more up front. Three controls run it:
- BEEF adds weight, density and loudness;
- COOK moves the colour from a rounder feel toward a brighter, more cooked edge;
- JUICE sets the input level.
SOFT CLIP, on by default, rounds the loudest peaks and adds harmonics above the low end; LIMIT keeps output peaks in check instead, or both can be switched off. Input and output clip lights monitor either end.
The hand-drawn interface comes in two finishes, with a cow that reacts to the audio.
