Filmic Gaze has released Field Four 1.01, a free four-track recorder for Windows.
Inspired by classic four-track recorders such as the TASCAM Portastudio, Field Four records four continuous mono Tracks and supports overdubbing, punch-in/out, same-Reel Bounce and mono or stereo Mix to New Reel. Reverse, 0.5×–2× Vari-speed and a fixed Tape switch are built into the recorder.
Recorded Tracks remain available as ordinary mono 48 kHz, 32-bit-float WAV files. Finished mixes can be exported as 24-bit WAV or 320 kbps MP3.
