Big Man Labs has released Big Notes, a utility plugin that brings photo and text annotation directly into the DAW session.
Designed for engineers and producers who need to recall mic placements, gear settings, pedal configurations, or session context months after the fact, Big Notes uses a built-in local web server to let users upload photos straight from a phone by scanning an in-plugin QR code. Everything stays on the local network and saves with the session file.
Each plugin instance carries four photo slots with zoom, pan, and rotation controls, plus a notes pane editable from either the DAW or a phone browser. Multiple instances can run per session, giving each track or bus its own context.
Pricing & Availability
Big Notes is available in VST3, AU, CLAP, and AAX formats for macOS (Universal), Windows, and Linux. Pricing is $18 USD with a 14-day full-feature trial. Licenses cover up to 5 machines and include free updates throughout the 1.x cycle.
