Ashun Sound Machines (ASM) has announced the release of the Leviasynth, a new flagship hybrid synthesizer debuting at NAMM 2026. Available in both 61-key and desktop module formats, the Leviasynth features a 16-voice architecture with an 8-oscillator engine that combines digital algorithmic synthesis with a dedicated analog filter signal path.
Hybrid Algorithmic Engine
The core of the Leviasynth is a new digital/analog hybrid engine. Each of the 16 voices utilizes 8 oscillators with access to over 300 waveforms. These oscillators are organized into “algorithms”—configurations that define how the oscillators interact (similar to FM synthesis operators).
The instrument ships with 144 preset algorithms, but unlike traditional fixed-algorithm synths, the Leviasynth allows users to design and store custom algorithms per patch. A new “Algorithm Morphing” feature enables users to select up to 8 algorithms and modulate between them in real-time.
Signal Path and Filtering
The signal path integrates digital shaping with analog processing. The oscillator output feeds into a digital filter section derived from the Hydrasynth, offering 18 filter models (including vocal formant and multi-mode options).
Following the digital stage, the signal passes through a custom analog variable pre-drive circuit before entering a pure analog 4-pole resonant low-pass filter. The instrument supports bi-timbral operation, allowing the 16 voices to be split or layered into two parts of 8 voices each.
Modulation and Control
The modulation architecture is extensive, featuring:
-
Envelopes: 13 dedicated 6-stage DAHDSR envelopes per voice.
-
LFOs: 5 LFOs per voice with “Step LFO” mode for sequencing modulation.
-
Matrix: A 32-point modulation matrix connecting 42 internal sources to over 290 destinations.
-
Macros: 8 Macros per part for performance control.
The keyboard version is equipped with ASM’s Polytouch keybed, providing polyphonic aftertouch, alongside a 4-octave ribbon controller. The desktop version replaces the keys with 16 Polytouch pads. Both versions support MPE (MIDI Polyphonic Expression) and include a 3-track sequencer capable of capturing both note and macro data.
