Inlet Audio has released Sever, a new intensity-driven horror texture instrument for the free Kontakt 8 Player.
Built from extended aleatoric double-bass improvisations, Sever turns evolving performances into playable textures and gestures for contemporary horror scoring.
Rather than recording isolated techniques or one-shot effects, the improvisations were performed with different horror-scoring situations in mind, then chopped and reconstructed while retaining their natural movement and fluctuations.
Two Instruments
The library contains two instruments, recorded at different intensities:
- Unease: Lower-intensity performances designed for restrained tension, suspense and subtle instability.
- Rupture: Higher-intensity performances featuring denser, more physical and aggressive gestures.
Together, they allow composers to move from subtle psychological tension to visceral horror material while retaining a consistent sonic identity.
Key Features
- 20 articulations across Unease and Rupture.
- 40 presets.
- Core and More: two individual performances per articulation, with independent volume, pan and on/off controls for solo or layered playback.
- Close/Far and Clean/Dark sound-shaping controls.
- Built-in reverb, delay, EQ and low-pass filtering.
- Compatible with the free Kontakt 8 Player (version 8.1 or later).
